눈치채셨겠지만, 이 책은‘아낌없이 주는 나무’에서 영감을 받은 책입니다. 그 책은 참으로 철학적이지만, 그 해석은 너무 어려운 것 같습니다. 특히 아낌없이 주는 나무의 사랑에도 불구하고 성장하지 않는 그의 인격이 고개를 갸우뚱하게 만듭니다. 그래서 어린이와 나무라는 소재를 활용하여 어린이가 짧은 이야기 속에서 성숙한 어른으로 성장하는 이야기를 만들어보고 싶었습니다. 이 책속에서 주인공 소녀는 나무에게 많은 것을 받고, 배우게 됩니다. 그리고 나중에는 나무를 돕고, 그의 뜻을 실천하는 어른으로 성장하게 됩니다. 성장하는 과정은 마태복음 13장 1~23절에서 예수님께서 말씀하신 씨부리는 자의 비유를 모티브로 삼았습니다. 소녀는 미숙한 어린이로서 나무에게 실수도 하지만, 나무의 용서를 통해 부드러운 마음을 경험하고, 용기를 내어 나무를 지키며, 유혹을 이기고 절제하는 성숙한 어른으로 성장합니다. 이 책을 읽는 모든 어린이들이 이 소녀처럼 성장해 나가길 기도합니다.
As you may have noticed, this book is inspired by ‘The Giving Tree.’ The book is indeed philosophical, but its interpretation seems too difficult. In particular, his personality, which does not grow despite the tree's generous love, makes me shake my head. So, I wanted to use the subject matter of children and trees to create a story about children growing into mature adults in a short story. In this book, the main character girl receives and learns many things from the tree. And later, he grows into an adult who helps the tree and puts his will into practice. The growing process is based on the parable of the sower told by Jesus in Matthew 13:1-23. As an immature child, the girl makes mistakes with the tree, but through the tree's forgiveness, she experiences a soft heart, has the courage to protect the tree, and grows into a mature adult who overcomes temptation and exercises self-control. I pray that all children who read this book grow up like this girl.
준과 현은 남매입니다. 준은 이 책의 글을 쓰고 화가인 누나 현에게 그림을 그려달라고 부탁하였습니다. 현은 처음에는 동생의 부탁을 거절하였지만,
기도하는 중에 마음을 바꾸게 되어 작업에 동참하게 되었습니다.
준은 경영컨설턴트입니다. 그는 대기업, 중소기업, 공사, 정부기관 등 다양한 기관의 인사제도를 설계하고, 조직 구성원들의 역량을 개발하는 프로젝트를 수립해 왔습니다. 또한 리더십 강사로서 강의를 진행하고 있기도 합니다. 그는 고려대학교 교육학과를 졸업하고, 같은 대학 일반대학원에서 전략경영으로 석사학위를 취득하였습니다. 그에게는 아름답고 지혜로운 아내와 똘똘한 아들, 그리고 귀여운 딸이 있습니다.
현은 영적이고 추상적인 꼴라주 형태의 작품을 주로 창작하는 화가입니다. 이 책의 모든 그림도 종이를 재료로 하는 꼴라주 형태로 만들어져 있습니다. 그녀는 홍익대학교에서 미술을 전공하였고, 졸업 이후 다양한 작품활동을 꾸준히 이어왔습니다. 그녀의 작품은 샘소나이트가 한국에서 개최한 콜라보레이션 응모전에서 3000대 1의 경쟁을 거치며 최종 작품으로 선정되기도 하였습니다. 그녀에게는 믿음직한 남편과, 요리사인 아들, 그리고 예쁜 딸이 있습니다.
June and Hyun are siblings. Jun wrote this book and asked his older sister, Hyun, who was a painter, draw the pictures. Hyun said no to her brother's request at first, but she changed her mind while praying and joined the project.
June is a management consultant. He has been designing personnel systems for various organizations such as major firms, SMEs, public corporations, and government agencies, and has established projects to develop the competencies of organizational members. He also does lectures as a leadership instructor. He graduated from Korea University with a bachelor’s degree in education and obtained his master's degree in strategic management from the same university's general graduate school. He has a beautiful and wise wife, an intelligent son and an adorable daughter.
Hyun is an artist who mainly creates art in the form of spiritual and abstract collages. All the drawings in this book are also made in the form of collages made of paper. She majored in art at Hongik University and has continued to engage in various art activities well after her graduation. In a collaboration contest of 3,000 contestants held by Samsonite in Korea, her piece of art was selected as the final work. She has a reliable husband, a son who is a cook, and a beautiful daughter.
